Each track is captured direct to tape and filmed in a single take, preserving the performance exactly as it happens. Creating an authentic portrait of the people and dynamic in the session.

How it works
Intent
Play together, listen to each other
and perform the song as a whole.
Capture
Everything is recorded live to a Studer A80 MkII 2-inch 16-track tape machine. A limited track count keeps the recording simple and considered. The next day, it’s mixed down to 2-track tape.
Feel
The performance is allowed to move naturally. Tempo can breathe, dynamics can shift and musicians can react to each other in the moment.
Commitment
Tape brings a certain atmosphere to the session. There is an excitement and a little pressure in the permanence. There are no overdubs.
Presence
Each session is filmed and presented as a portrait, shaped around the personality, environment and world of the artist.
